Comparisons  · Agentic IDE (adjacent, not a competitor)

Kiro writes the code. GroundTruth proves what the code did.

Kiro is not a competitor, so this page is not a contest. Kiro is an agentic development environment: it turns a spec into code and checks the requirements before any code exists. GroundTruth starts at the merge and ends at a signed record. A team can run both, and the pair covers more than either alone.

Claims about Kiro are category facts, checked on the vendor’s own site in October 2026. Products change. If something here is out of date, tell us and we will correct it.

What Kiro does better than GroundTruth

We list this first on purpose. A comparison that only lists wins is an advert, and you can tell.

It writes the code

Kiro produces the change. GroundTruth writes no application code and does not try to.

It validates requirements before code exists

Kiro finds gaps and conflicts in a spec up front. This is earlier than our acceptance-criteria assist runs.

Spec-driven flow in the editor

Kiro keeps the spec, the design and the tasks together while the work happens. GroundTruth is not an editor.

It is where the developer already sits

Kiro acts inside the development environment. GroundTruth acts in source control and the tracker.

What GroundTruth does that Kiro does not

We start where the agent stops

Kiro stops at the repository. GroundTruth reads the merge and continues to the tracker and the audit chain.

We check the merged result

A spec check before the code is not proof about the code. GroundTruth reads each criterion against the merged diff.

We record which agent acted

Each run writes a receipt: the agent, the model, the policy decisions and the ticket it served.

We sign the record

The chain from requirement to signed entry survives a change of agent vendor. Your tool choice can change; the record stays.

Side by side

The same ten questions appear on every comparison page, so you can read them against each other. A tilde means partly, and it carries a note.

Capability Kiro GroundTruth
Writes the application code ✓ ✕
Validates the spec before code exists† ✓ ∼
Reads source control as the record of the work ✕ ✓
Checks each acceptance criterion against the merged diff ✕ ✓
Holds a ticket when a criterion is not met ✕ ✓
Writes the ticket state in the tracker ✕ ✓

  • Validates the spec before code exists: GroundTruth scores acceptance criteria and drafts testable ones. Kiro goes further on spec validation.
  • Sends a low-confidence case to a person: Kiro asks the developer in the editor. GroundTruth routes a low-confidence finding to a named reviewer.

Choose Kiro if

  • You want an agent that writes code from a spec.
  • You want requirement gaps found before any code is written.
  • Your developers want this inside the editor.

Choose GroundTruth if

  • You want the merged result checked against the criteria.
  • You want one record across several agent tools.
  • You must prove the lifecycle to an auditor or a customer.

Running both

Run Kiro to produce the change and GroundTruth to prove it. Kiro validates the spec, writes the code and opens the pull request. GroundTruth reads the merge, checks each acceptance criterion against the diff, writes the ticket state the evidence supports, and signs the entry. The result is one chain: requirement, intent, which agent acted, under what policy, what it wrote, what merged, criteria verified, ticket state, signed.

In one line

Kiro and GroundTruth are two halves of the same lifecycle. One produces the work, the other proves it. Treating them as rivals helps nobody.

What we will not claim

What each integration can do

GroundTruth reads GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket as the record of the work. It writes full sync to Jira, Linear and Azure DevOps. Asana is read plus coarse write, so it cannot drive a full workflow there.

We do not make you compliant

No tool does. GroundTruth produces evidence that an auditor can read. The judgment stays with your auditor, and Fastpace holds no certification on your behalf.

Analytics is not our category

Jellyfish, LinearB, Swarmia and DX report delivery and experience in far more depth than we do. We report status accuracy, drift and blockers. We do not claim parity.

Self-hosting is a conversation

Self-hosted and air-gapped deployment is an Enterprise capability, arranged with our team. You cannot switch it on from a pricing page.

Questions buyers ask

Is GroundTruth a Kiro alternative?

No. Kiro writes code. GroundTruth verifies and records what merged. If you need code written, you need an agent, not us.

Does GroundTruth work with other agents?

Yes. It records runs from the agent tools your team uses and keeps one record across them. The record survives a change of vendor.

Do we need GroundTruth if Kiro already checks the spec?

A spec check happens before the code. It cannot prove what the merged diff did. The two checks answer different questions.
