4 Best Exalate Alternatives in 2026

Exalate is powerful and the power has a price: somebody has to own the scripts. When that person leaves, the integration becomes a liability nobody wants to touch.

The second reason is cost shape. It is priced per integration and tiered by active items in sync, so a few connections add up quickly.

The third is the realisation that sync is transport, and transport cannot tell you whether what it moved was true.

Every price and capability here was read from that vendor’s own pricing page, and each entry below carries the date it was last checked. The oldest on this page is October 2026. We re-check every 90 days. We do not use third-party pricing aggregators: they contradicted each other and some were years out of date. Products change. If something here is wrong, tell us and we will correct it.

The short version

Product Best for Starting price The difference that matters
Fastpace GroundTruth Teams whose tracker is wrong, and anyone who has to prove why a ticket moved. $44 per developer, per month Reads source control, checks each acceptance criterion against the merged code, and corrects the tracker.
Unito Two teams working in two different trackers who both need current data. Not published Two-way sync that mirrors issues and fields between tools.
Jira Automation Simple, mechanical rules on a tracker you already pay for. Included with Jira Rule engine built into Jira. Acts when something changes.
GitHub for Jira Teams who only need the code visible from the ticket. Free Free official app that links branches, commits and pull requests to a Jira issue.
Exalate (the one you have) Syncing with another company, where neither side will hand over its configuration. $85 per integration, per month Scripted, decentralised sync between trackers, including across company boundaries.

“Not published” means the vendor shows no price on its own pricing page, so the first step is a sales conversation.

1. Fastpace GroundTruth

Fastpace GroundTruth

Reads source control, checks each acceptance criterion against the merged code, and corrects the tracker.

Best for: Teams whose tracker is wrong, and anyone who has to prove why a ticket moved.

Why it is a real alternative to Exalate

  • Nothing to script. The rules are configuration and the checks run against the criteria as written.
  • A status decided from the merged code rather than carried from another system.
  • A signed, reversible record of every change, with the finding that justified it.
  • Findings a sync cannot produce: merged work with no ticket, and criteria that were never met.

What you give up by switching

  • Cross-company sync where each side keeps its own rules. That is Exalate’s home ground.
  • Deep scripted mappings for genuinely unusual cases.
  • Unlimited users and connections on every plan.

Pricing

Standard $44 and Pro $79 per active developer monitored, per month. Enterprise is custom. Viewer and leadership seats are free. 14-day trial.

Free tier: No free tier. 14-day trial of the full Pro feature set.

What we can show you, and what we cannot

You can open the product before you talk to anyone. The live demo runs the real interface on demonstration data, with no signup, and the proof chain walks one ticket from the requirement to the signed record. Our accuracy numbers are written into the agreement, with a make-good first and money back as the backstop.

What we cannot show you is a wall of customer logos or a published case study, because we are newer than the other products on this page. We would rather say that here than have you find out on the third call.

The alternatives, one by one

Each entry below covers who it suits, what it does well, where it falls short and what it costs. Strengths and weaknesses are both written from the vendor’s own material and from what the product does not claim to do.

2. Unito

Unito

Two-way sync that mirrors issues and fields between tools.

Best for: Two teams working in two different trackers who both need current data.

Strengths
  • Broad tool coverage, well beyond trackers and repositories.
  • Mature field-level mapping, in both directions, with filters.
  • A non-engineer can configure a flow.
  • The right tool for a merger, an acquisition or an agency handover.
Weaknesses
  • It copies values. It has no view on whether a value is correct.
  • Pricing is by items in sync, which is hard to forecast before you start.
  • Prices are only shown inside the app, during the trial.
Pricing

Priced by the number of items in sync, where each item synced between two tools counts as two. Exact plan pricing is shown in the app during the free trial. Enterprise is sales-led.

Free tier: None listed. Free trial.

3. Jira Automation

Jira Automation

Rule engine built into Jira. Acts when something changes.

Best for: Simple, mechanical rules on a tracker you already pay for.

Strengths
  • Included with Jira, so there is nothing new to buy.
  • Already installed and already permissioned.
  • Good at mechanical rules: when this changes, do that.
  • No vendor review and no procurement.
Weaknesses
  • A rule fires on a trigger. It never checks whether the work is done.
  • Rule run limits depend on your Jira plan.
  • Each rule is bespoke per project, and nothing explains a wrong write afterwards.
Pricing

Part of Jira. Rule execution limits depend on your Jira plan.

Free tier: Included at every Jira tier, with limits.

4. GitHub for Jira

GitHub for Jira

Free official app that links branches, commits and pull requests to a Jira issue.

Best for: Teams who only need the code visible from the ticket.

Strengths
  • Free, official, and maintained by Atlassian and GitHub.
  • The development panel puts branches, commits and pull requests on the issue.
  • Smart commits can transition an issue from a commit message.
  • Installs in minutes.
Weaknesses
  • It displays what exists. It does not derive a status or check any work.
  • A smart commit closes an issue because somebody typed a word.
  • No record of why an issue moved, and no way to reverse it.
Pricing

Free official app on the Atlassian Marketplace.

Free tier: Entirely free.

5. Exalate, the one you already have

Exalate

Scripted, decentralised sync between trackers, including across company boundaries.

Best for: Syncing with another company, where neither side will hand over its configuration.

Strengths
  • Each side scripts its own rules, so neither has to trust the other.
  • Handles unusual mappings that menu-driven tools cannot.
  • Published prices, which is rare in this category.
  • Unlimited users and connections on every plan.
Weaknesses
  • Scripting is the point, so somebody has to own it.
  • Priced per integration and tiered by active items in sync, so cost grows with scope.
  • Transport, not verification: it moves a value without judging it.
Pricing

Starter $100 per month, or $85 billed annually, for 25 active items in sync. Scale $325, or $280 annually, for 100 items. Pro starts at $550. Enterprise is custom. Priced per integration.

Free tier: None. 30-day trial, up to 500 items, no credit card.

How we evaluated these

  • Every price and plan was read from the vendor’s own pricing page, not from a review site.
  • Each entry carries the date it was checked, and a script fails our build when one goes 180 days without a re-check.
  • Capabilities are taken from what each vendor says it does, and from what it does not claim to do.
  • We have not run a controlled trial of each competitor, and we do not pretend to have done so.
  • We publish no testimonial, customer logo or statistic we cannot name and source.
  • Where another product is the better answer, the page says so by name.

Questions buyers ask

What does Exalate cost?

Starter is $100 per month, or $85 billed annually, for 25 active items in sync. Scale is $325, or $280 annually, for 100 items. Pro starts at $550 and Enterprise is custom. Pricing is per integration. Checked in October 2026.

Is there a simpler Exalate alternative?

Unito does two-way sync without scripting, configured by a non-engineer. It publishes no prices and bills by items in sync.

Do we still need a sync tool if we use GroundTruth?

If you must keep two trackers mirrored, yes. GroundTruth decides and writes the state in your tracker; it does not mirror systems.

Does GroundTruth need scripting?

No. The rules are configuration, and the acceptance criteria are read as written.

What happens when our Exalate expert leaves?

That is the risk worth planning for now. Whatever you choose, write down what each integration does and why, and prefer configuration you can read over a script only one person understands.

So which one should you pick?

You sync with another company Stay with Exalate.
You want sync without scripts Unito.
You need one rule inside Jira Jira Automation.
You need the record to be true, not just copied GroundTruth.

If the honest answer is us, start without talking to anyone.

Connect one repository and one project in shadow mode. GroundTruth reads them and shows you every change it would make. It writes nothing until you say so.
